137…the number of reservations we had this year. 100. The number of 1/4 pound Hamburgers I grilled. 75. That’s the number of 1/4 pound All Beef Hot Dogs came off the grill. And 60….that’s number of prizes we had to raffle off. The majority of raffle prizes were donated by Scott and his mom, Judy Geiger. Judy’s husband, Lou, started the picnic 33 years ago when they were one of the first owners in Lakewood. The prizes included coolers, home goods, assorted tools and other prizes packages. The chances of winning something was pretty good and it made for a fun afternoon! The sky was bright and sunny and it was 83 with a light breeze to make it perfectly comfortable. We could not have asked for a better day for our annual 4th of July picnic! We introduced our new T-shirts we are selling with our spiffy new Lakewood logo. Look for your friends and neighbors wearing theirs!! All in all we had a successful day raking in $469.00 between T-shirt sales, raffle tickets and the annual 50/50 raffle. All money will be going directly into our “gate fund”. The 50/50 itself brought in $104.00…$52.00 went home with winner Barry Bresnen. The afternoon continued with a bags tournament. Tom Conway and partner Jake Gremer hustled everyone and took home the winning prize of a $10.00 Northern Bay gift card each. After that we had our 3rd annual water balloon toss tournament…..which inevitable turns into a free for all with the water balloons. Always a great time!!!
I want to thank Secretary, Maureen Bain for all of her help with picking up the food, checking people in and helping me serve. Also, I am very appreciative of our VP, Steve Hensen and his wife, Mary. You guys are awesome. Thanks for all you did! Thanks, again to the Geiger’s for all the donated prizes and Scott for helping out with clean up and bringing the kids all of the freeze pops. A shout out to the Ebel’s and Irish Tom for helping set up, clean up and organize the bags tournament. Last but not least, I want to recognize Terry and Betty Anderson for sprucing up our front entrance. They donated and spread some mulch and it looks awesome. Terry and Betty also stepped up and offered to take our picnic garbage to the dump and that was so appreciated!
Let’s all have a great summer and please remember to keep our lakefront nice. Keep Lakewood clean and take your garbage with you. Thanks 🙂
