Happy 2016!

IMG_9869Happy New Year Lakewoodians!  While Mother Nature dumped about 10″ of snow in our area on December 28th, many of you were up at your cabins enjoying winter activities between the Christmas and New Year holidays. For those of us who are snowmobilers, the trails officially opened at noon on New Years Day. Adams County opted to open their trails while many of the surrounding counties remained closed. Trails were groomed and aside from standing water in marshy and low lying areas, they were in very good riding condition while road routes were dry and patchy. By Saturday evening trails had gotten pretty worn down and with rain and a wintery mix in the forecast for this Thursday and Friday, it is not looking promising for snowmobiling in the near future.   Don’t forget to check this website regularly for news and updates and pertinent information regarding weather and travel issues. The Wisconsin DOT link under the ‘Resources’ tab will come in handy during the winter months so you can be advised of current road conditions as well as throughout the year.  This link includes up to date road closures/construction, accidents/incidents. and current alerts along with other pertinent travel information.  Also, on the bottom right of this page is the current extended forecast for the Lakewood area. Connect to the weather underground icon at the bottom of the forecast and it provides you with extensive weather info.  And for all you snowmobilers and ice fishermen, check out the resources tab to reference current trail conditions and where the fish are hitting! Also, if you are not already a part of our closed group Lakewood Facebook page, please join us. It has proven to be a great communication source between homeowners and some of us have connected with people in our subdivision that we never knew! Let’s all continue making Lakewood a better place in 2016!!!
