Labor Day Saturday (September 2nd) we held our very first (and hopefully annual) Outdoor Movie Under The Stars down at our lakefront. While the daytime weather was less than cooperative or enjoyable,by 5-ish the weather moved out and the sky cleared in time to make for a perfect night outside. The double feature started at 7:30 p.m. with Grown Ups, a star studded comedy about childhood friends reuniting for their basketball coach’s funeral. Big names like Kevin James, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, David Spade, Maya Rudolf and Selma Hayak starred, so seriously….how could it not be funny?! Movie goers were issued one ticket per household and at intermission we drew a ticket for a $10.00 gift card to Northern Bay. Our president, Eric Koppa was the lucky winner! Vice President Steve was busy manning the popcorn machine. BEST hot buttered popcorn I have ever had!!! After intermission, our second movie started. Uncle Buck starring John Candy was a winner as well, wrapping up our night around 11:00. A special thanks to the Caskey Family for the use of their AV equipment and for setting up and overseeing the projection of the movies, President Eric, the Andersons and Otts for fire tending duties, the Hensens for donating the popcorn and machine to make it happen and the Bains for organizing the event and donating the soda and ice. Everyone that joined us had a great time and there was discussion about possibly making this an annual or even semi-annual event. If you were unable to join us over the weekend, please mark your calendars next time around! We have a fantastic space at our lakefront for future gatherings like this and we would like to plan more events in the future as long as we have participation from our membership.
