Sadly, another summer has come to an end but for those of us who enjoy winter activities, we have snowmobiling, ATVing, hunting, ice fishing and cross country and downhill skiing to look forward to. We had great weather, once again, for our 4th of July picnic and had a ton of fun playing games, eating, drinking and conversing with our friends and neighbors. Plans are in the works for next year’s picnic, so please let us know if you’d like to be involved in making it a spectacular event! The board would like to give a shout out to all beach goers, this past summer, with respecting the DNR mandated Riparian Buffer zone on the northwest corner of our beach. Also, we have made strides this year in the participation of our members visiting the lakefront and properly displaying their hang tags! Our mission is for NO ONE to get towed, but rather ensure that the lakefront and beach area is solely used by Lakewood property owners ONLY. So THANK YOU to ALL for helping in these efforts! While many of you make Labor Day your last weekend at the cabin until spring, we officially “shut down” the lakefront on September 15th. This is the date each year that we make arrangements for the Port-O-Potty and pier to be removed, water to be shut off and winterized and the volleyball net, swings and swim area to be removed and stored for the winter. The lakefront and pavilion is still accessible for use until December 1st, at which point the gate will be locked until April 1st (weather permitting). Remember the lakefront is ours to enjoy ALL YEAR….for those wanting to utilize the lakefront and beach area during the winter months, a key for the gate can be purchased for $5.00 per key. For more information on purchasing a gate key please email talktous@lakewoodpoa.org. For those of you who currently have a key or plan to request one, we just ask that you lock it back up on your way in and on your way out to discourage trespassers. Also, use good discretion if you plan to drive a vehicle in as the road will NOT be plowed (and just like in summer, please display your hangtag and be sure to take your garbage with you when you leave). Thanks in advance for your help and enjoy whatever it is that gets you through our Wisconsin winters 🙂
